What can Massage Therapy do for you?
Massage Therapy can enhance your health and well-being by reducing the effects of stress and tension, muscle spasms and stiffness, as well as chronic pain. It also speeds the body's natural healing process. By working with an understanding of the body, Massage Therapy can assist in the recovery from many kinds of injuries like muscle strains /sprains, whiplash & tendonitis. It can help prevent chronic conditions from occurring or recurring and is very useful in making some kinds of physical therapy more effective. People with chronic conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, Fibromyalgia and arthritis benefit greatly from massage.
Types of Massage at Basic Kneads
Swedish Massage — The most familiar form of massage. It uses the basic techniques of effleurage, petrissage and tapotement. Muscles are kneaded and stroked to relieve stress, increase circulation and create a better mind-body balance.

Deep Tissue — Concentrated deep work using thumbs and elbows to loosen deep muscles and connective tissue to release deeply held patterns of tension. This is an intense massage with powerful results.

Myofacial Release — A technique for treating the fascia. Fascia is the most abundant tissue in the body, and covers every muscle, fiber, nerve, organ, and bone. When the fascia becomes restricted, it can produce pain and postural distortion.

Neuromuscular Therapy — Pain relief techniques to alleviate muscle spasms and chronic pain. The major goal is to reduce spasming and pain cycle by inducing new blood flow into the affected area.

Sports Massage — Vigorous movements applied to muscles usually before or after a sports activity. It's a combination of compression, light & fast strokes and then stretching of the limbs.

Injury Recovery — This specialized session involves working on a specific injury with intent of helping speed the healing process. The use of hot or cold packs and isolated stretching are involved.

Prenatal Massage — During pregnancy, your body undergoes tremendous changes as your baby grows and your body prepares to bring your child into the world. Massage can alleviate the muscle tension and discomfort that comes along with your body's structural changes. The goals for prenatal massage are to minimize stress, promote relaxation, and prepare your muscles for child birth. Prenatal massage specifically addresses a pregnant woman's needs and is highly beneficial. Prenatal massage is an enjoyable and beneficial way to positively influence your pregnancy. *It is recommended that you be at least in your second trimester to confidently receive massage.

Thoughts on your first visit
At Basic Kneads, we want you to feel as comfortable as possible and hope these suggestions will help you receive the greatest benefits from your massage.

Allow enough time in your schedule so you are not rushed before or after the massage. We suggest at least 1 1/2 hours for a 1-hour massage. Be sure to let us know if you have any time restrictions.

We respect your privacy and will keep you safely draped with a sheet except for the area being massaged. Clothing is not necessary - the less the better.

We are sensitive to the modesty of our clients and stay outside the room until you are disrobed, lying comfortably on the table and have covered yourself with the sheet.

Your only job is to relax, communicate your needs to the therapist and breathe deeply.

Our pressure varies from gentle touch to deep pressure, depending on your preference and we encourage you to let us know your needs.
